|waiting in the rain|
May 21, 2020
It's raining. The deep soaking kind of rain which makes this place both lusciously green and unbearably humid. We haven't quite reached the humid stage just yet.
Just outside my window hanging out on the screen is a wasp. It looks to be waiting out the rain as every so often it flutters its wings at high speed to dry them. Its nest might be nearby. I can't say I feel sorry for it since I think they are useless, angry creatures.
There really isn't much news here, much the same old stuff. I did submit my performance evaluation yesterday. Glad to have that out of the way. Still trying to iron out the language for the dean's strategic planning committee document. Having a bunch of academics working on something is kind of funny (odd not ha ha); words matter and we all know it. Yet, sometimes, I don't want to play the semantic game.
The kid who's going to fix the porch can't work in the rain...lightening is more like it. However, I think I could work on the new furniture I bought for the porch. It's been sitting in the box in the living room for over a year now. I know. Earlier I bought some outdoor rugs and one of those groovy ceramic stools to go with it. I can pick those up at the craft store in the next day or two.
I forgot to mention, I ordered some plants and they came yesterday. Some aloe vera, a snake plant, and a couple of other tropical varieties. I need to pot them. I'm awaiting some groovy pots I bought a couple of weeks ago. Trying to revamp this place a bit.
Shifting barometric pressure sometimes gives me a headache. Today is one of those days. Feeling off my game and the tiniest bit sore from yesterday's workout. Glad to be back in that game. Maybe a nap is in order.
Damn wasp is still hanging out...rubbing its legs in evil contemplation, grooming itself of the water droplets. I'm convinced I need a hobby
I'm off to do something,
