Friday Stuff May 13, 2022
Slept in this morning, went out with Nougat, read emails, etc., and generally am having a laidback day. Right now, we’re listening to Brother’s radio show, and I’m sipping a cup of coffee.
After the show, I’ll go strip the bed and change the sheets. Later, I’ll watch “Dining with the Chef” and then take a shower.
I have to call Linda and Scott, too. I didn’t talk to him yesterday. He called just as we got home from Publix, and I wanted to rest a little before having to go to sculpture class. By the time we got home from class, it was 6, we still had to eat supper, and I was just too tired to talk.
We got our second covid booster yesterday. The injection site is tender to the touch (solution: don’t touch it), but so far, that’s the only side effect. That’s the only side effect I’ve had with any of the covid vaccines, thankfully.
On the way home from sculpture, I stopped for gas. $4.49/gallon!!! I don’t think I’ve ever paid that much for gas in my life! I had half a tank (I always fill up at a half tank), and it cost me $21!! That’s crazy! I’m fortunate in that I don’t have to drive far or often, so it can take a couple of months before I get down to a half tank and have to fill up again.
I emailed Lois and asked her what she makes of Karen’s strange email. (The subject read: BLOCK, and there was no message).
Lois replied:
I meant to ask you the same thing. I texted her last night and no reply.
I’m afraid she decided to block us so we can’t communicate with her. I’ve never received a message like that before.
So, we’re both in the dark. I considered phoning Karen, but have decided against it. If she wants to start her new, single life by jettisoning all reminders of her married life, including her friendships, that’s her prerogative. Perhaps I should’ve reached out to her more often, but she wasn’t that receptive when I did call. Guess I don’t have to worry about that now.
Sunday is Paul’s birthday. We ordered him a mug that reads: Best. Neighbor. Ever. We’ll make some homemade hot cocoa mix, put it in a baggie and include it in the mug. Hope he’ll like it.
The weather this whole week has been splendid. Strong, cool breezes, temps in the '70's, plenty of sun, some clouds. Just heavenly. We've had all the windows open and no a/c. For a whole week!! Sadly, it's going to start getting warmer and more humid. And I don't think it will cool off again till November. 😭 But it was wonderful while it lasted.
That’s all folks! |
