|Another Quiet Day|
October 12, 2021
Lately, I'm finding it hard to find things to write about, since very little is going on. It's much the same as it was early last year, when the pandemic started. There are no restrictions any longer, of course, but I really don't want to go anywhere, other than book club and card class. I don't even feel like doing anything very productive at home, like make my Christmas cards. I'm reading a book, naturally, and slowly working through an online course, which I'm enjoying.
We had a bit of "excitement" yesterday. Well, excitement is definitely overstating it. "Novelty" is probably a better way to put it. AT&T had to come fix our phone line, which had developed a horrid buzzing/humming on Saturday, which kept getting worse. It affected all our phones, so I knew it was the line, and not the phone itself.
The service window was 8 - 6. AT&T called right at 8, and arrived about 20 minutes later. For a short time we had no phone or internet, while they worked. They never had to come in the house, so Nougat never had to be confined (and neither did I). And the good news is it's fixed and only took till noon for them to repair it (last time we were without service for several days.
The rest of yesterday and today were unremarkable. Tomorrow, Mom and I have to cook. That'll take up the morning at least. The weather has mostly been pleasant: drier, breezy, cooler. Nice to sit outside. Yesterday morning though, while the phone guys were here, it poured rain. I felt bad for them. By afternoon, the sun came out, and it got a bit steamy. Today's been very nice. We had some clouds, and there were showers nearby, but we didn't get any.
Nougat's her usual adorable self. This morning, she insisted on Mom giving her a second cup of coffee. Mom was drinking a cup, and Nougat sat in front of her, staring alternately at Mom and the cup, urging her to hurry up and drink it already so she could have some. When Mom said, "I'll sve you the cup", Nougat tried to climb on the table to help herself! (A couple of times, Mom's left her cup unattended on the end table, and Nougat has helped herself to the contents)
When Brother comes home either from work, or running errands, Nougat always greets him. Sometimes, he'll come home with Starbucks coffee from work (we refer to it as "faculty discount coffee"). Sometimes, he stops at the Portuguese bakery and comes home with rolls. Now, whenever he comes home, Nougat looks to see what, if anything, hee brought for her. If he hasn't come home with anything, she gets disappointed, and only gives him a perfunctory greeting. If he has something for her, she gets all excited and is all over him. But she's not spoiled.
Well, looks like I managed to come up with an entry after all.
