|Christmas Is Coming|
November 21, 2020
And so are all the Christmas presents! I ordered Mom’s and Brother’s gifts from amazon. I’d sent Mom my wish list a week ago, and she told me to order my gifts, too. So, I won’t be surprised, but I’ll know I’m getting just what I wanted and I’ll be happy with everything. Brother can still surprise me, though.
When Dad was alive, he used to have a theme for every Christmas, and all his gifts to Mom would fit the theme. For example, one year it was a “Blue Christmas”. Another year it was a “Practical Christmas”, and one of the gifts was a clam shucker! “Scandinavian Christmas” included lots of reindeer items, and a Scandinavian cruise.
I was thinking about the gifts I’m getting Mom this year, and realized that, although I didn’t plan it, they fall into a theme. I got her slippers, a mattress topper, body lotion, and “soup socks” (cheesecloth bags we use for making soup. We put all the bones in the bag, tie it up, and don’t have to worry about picking bones out of the soup).
All together, they make for a “Cozy Christmas”. Dad used to make a card announcing that year’s theme. Maybe I’ll do the same. I’m looking forward to surprising her. Hope she likes everything.
Today I cleaned the bathroom, put the wash in the dryer, groomed Nougat, paid my bills, ordered Christmas gifts, and had to run to the drugstore. I called them on Wednesday to refill a Rx. There were no refills left, so they had to fax my dr. I never heard back, so I called the drugstore yesterday. They hadn’t heard from the dr, said they’d fax her again. I never heard back, so I called today. They never got anything from the dr, said they’d fax her again. Of course, there’s no one there today, so the pharmacist said he’d give me a few pills to last me till Monday. I went and got them. Don’t know what’s up with my dr’s office. They’re usually good about renewing Rx.
Brother’s making dinner tonight and tomorrow. He’s got borscht cooking and it smells terrific. He’s going to make “cheese cake” sandwiches to go with the soup. I call it “cheese salad”, cause it’s made like tuna salad, with onion, celery, and mayo, but uses shredded cheese (mostly cheddar) in place of the tuna.
Can’t think of anything else to say, so I guess I’m done.
