These years are crushing in on me,
And I'm feelin' beyond my depth,
The pressure is building up, can you see,
Just how much I feel, that I got left?

Abandoned,
By family, by a friend,
By so many things, and all that they meant,
Stranded,
By a heart, and a brain,
And only these poisons, seem to kill the pain,
For a moment,

Now I find myself cutting the strings,
And finding it hard to hold myself up,
Burning bridges on all these human beings,
Just so I can feel that what I am is enough,

Abandoned,
By health, by all happiness,
By all things, that used to be so ravenous,
Commanded,
By a heart, and a brain,
And only these poisons, seem to kill the pain,
For a moment.

This love is surely transforming,
And I'm left looking at another demon,
Did I ever get past a phase of mourning,
For all the people, who'd take a turn leavin'?

Abandoned,
By a promise, by a lover,
By one I'd swore, would never be another,
Reprimanded,
By a heart, by this brain,
And only these poisons, seem to kill the pain,
For a moment.

I can only hope that the answer to life,
Is to truly find your one true self,
That a quiet darkness, can look like a light,
To find that fine line, between heaven and hell,

Abandoned,
By my soul, and my mind,
By all the things, I've known to call mine,
Disenchanted,
By a heart, by this brain,
And only these poisons, seem to kill the pain,
For the moment.
